Overview

  • Support financial operations, focusing on accounting, reporting, and compliance within a dynamic construction-focused environment.
  • Assist the Controller in managing daily accounting operations and ensuring accurate financial data.
  • Contribute to effective financial decision-making and project accounting processes.
  • Develop and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.

  • Collaborate with project managers and operations staff to track costs and billings.
  • Oversee cash flow management, including forecasting and liquidity planning.
  • Train and supervise accounting staff, fostering professional development and team efficiency.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Assist in overseeing daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
  • Lead preparation and review of financial statements and manage audit processes.
  • Monitor job cost reports, ensuring project financial data accuracy and timeliness.
  • Coordinate with project managers to track costs, billings, and change orders effectively.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and systems for efficiency.
  • Manage employee benefits and oversee 401K filings, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Supervise accounting staff, providing training and guidance to enhance team performance.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2–3 years in a leadership role.
  • Extensive knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition.
  • Experience coordinating audits and working with lenders, bonding companies, and insurers.
  • Proficiency with construction-specific accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across accounting and operations teams.
