Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Assist in overseeing daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
- Lead preparation and review of financial statements and manage audit processes.
- Monitor job cost reports, ensuring project financial data accuracy and timeliness.
- Coordinate with project managers to track costs, billings, and change orders effectively.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and systems for efficiency.
- Manage employee benefits and oversee 401K filings, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Supervise accounting staff, providing training and guidance to enhance team performance.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2–3 years in a leadership role.
- Extensive knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition.
- Experience coordinating audits and working with lenders, bonding companies, and insurers.
- Proficiency with construction-specific accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across accounting and operations teams.
