Job Description

Overview

  • Manage end-to-end property accounting and lender reporting for multifamily assets within a public REIT environment.
  • Ensure accurate GAAP reporting, debt compliance, and lender deliverables for assigned properties.
  • Drive process excellence, controls, and automation across the property accounting function.
  • Oversee monthly close activities, including accruals, allocations, intercompany transactions, and eliminations.
  • Collaborate with onsite teams on fixed asset capitalization, project cost tracking, and depreciation.
  • Support system implementations and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
  • Analyze financial data and trends to provide actionable insights for strategic planning.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and remediate gaps through robust testing.
  • Work in a fast-paced, innovative environment focused on continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Monitor budget performance and review general ledger accounts using advanced accounting tools.
  • Prepare and review journal entries and adjustments to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Lead monthly close processes, including accruals, allocations, and intercompany transactions.
  • Ensure proper fixed asset capitalization, project cost tracking, and depreciation calculations.
  • Collaborate with teams to finalize project closeouts and determine useful asset lives.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures aligned with industry standards.
  • Support system implementations and leverage AI technologies for process optimization.
  • Analyze financial trends to provide strategic insights to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with debt agreements and timely submission of lender deliverables.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred but not mandatory.
  • Minimum of 8 years of accounting experience; 15 years preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and proficiency in accounting software.
  • Experience with tools like Yardi, Blackline, and SAP Concur highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills required.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment focused on improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint essential.
