Job Description

Overview

  • The Fiduciary Accountant will manage fiduciary accounts, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Prepare Federal Estate, Gift, and State Tax Returns with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Provide support for fiduciary income tax reporting and estate planning objectives.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and clients to ensure proper estate and trust administration.
  • Assist in estate and trust litigation matters, offering expertise in fiduciary accounting.
  • Utilize accounting software to maintain accurate records and reporting.
  • Work in a hybrid environment with flexible work arrangements.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare Federal Estate Tax Returns (Form 706) and related state tax filings.
  • Coordinate with clients, attorneys, and financial advisors for accurate tax preparation.
  • Support IRS and state examinations, communicating effectively with auditors.
  • Prepare Federal Gift Tax Returns (Form 709) and ancillary estate planning documents.
  • Create formal and informal accountings for estates, trusts, and guardianships.
  • Facilitate estate and trust administration, including deferred tax calculations and distributions.
  • Maintain compliance with fiduciary accounting principles and ethical standards.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in fiduciary, trust, and estate accounting.
  • Proficiency in fiduciary accounting principles and tax reporting requirements.
  • Experience preparing estate, inheritance, and gift tax returns (Forms 706, 709, IT-R, ET-706).
  • Knowledge of fiduciary income tax preparation and estate administration.
  • CPA license or progress toward CPA designation preferred.
  • Strong communication skills for interaction with attorneys, clients, and courts.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
