Job Description

Overview

  • Contribute to the accounting department by managing transactions, reporting, and compliance processes.
  • Prepare accounting transactions including cost allocation, revenue, fixed assets, debt, and derivatives.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and analysis.
  • Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to ensure accurate financial data capture.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Develop and manage capital accrual processes and capital reporting schedules.
  • Maintain and reconcile right-of-way leases and land purchases monthly.
  • Contribute to technical accounting memorandums and special projects as assigned.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage fixed asset and WIP subledgers, ensuring accuracy and timely depreciation.
  • Setup, monitor, and account for reimbursable construction projects effectively.
  • Review and process construction invoices, change orders, retainage, and progress billings.
  • Track asset capitalization and coordinate with fixed asset accounting for completed projects.
  • Develop and monitor accounting for asset retirement obligations.
  • Perform and review accounting reconciliations on a timely basis.
  • Assist with monthly and annual close processes for income statement and balance sheet.
  • Provide support during audits, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with teams to capture changes in contracts and construction plans.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
  • CPA certification or CPA eligibility preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience; 6 years preferred.
  • Experience in public accounting or construction/energy industries is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in fixed asset accounting and joint venture project reporting.
  • Strong analytical and research skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Knowledge of capital accrual processes and construction accounting practices.
