Job Description

Overview

  • The Senior Payroll Coordinator will oversee payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing for a large workforce.
  • Collaborate with the Payroll Manager to supervise payroll staff and ensure compliance with organizational policies.
  • Utilize advanced payroll systems and tools to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Contribute to the preparation of payroll-related documents, including tax forms and employee deductions.
  • Support a diverse workforce, including unionized employees, in payroll management.
  • Participate in special payroll initiatives and provide operational support as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure adherence to organizational standards and regulations.
  • Work in a hybrid environment, transitioning to remote work after initial onsite training.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Supervise and support payroll staff under the guidance of the Payroll Manager.
  • Process bi-weekly and weekly payrolls using UKG systems and other tools.
  • Manage employee deductions, direct deposits, garnishments, and voluntary contributions.
  • Prepare and reconcile tax files, wage verification requests, and payroll subpoenas.
  • Generate and analyze payroll reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Issue manual checks, process pay cards, and manage payroll supplies.
  • Ensure timely submission of payments to agencies and vendors.
  • Participate in ad hoc payroll projects and initiatives as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of three years in payroll/accounting; six years preferred.
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification or Certified Payroll Professional credential preferred.
  • Proficiency in payroll systems like UKG and ADP; SQL knowledge advantageous.
  • Experience with union payroll and prevailing wage knowledge preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required.
  • Effective communication skills for verbal instruction and customer service.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to a hybrid work environment.
