- Work collaboratively under the supervision of the Practice Administrator and Nurse Manager.
- Engage with patients and guests to deliver exceptional customer service and resolve concerns.
- Perform tasks such as patient registration, appointment scheduling, and insurance verification.
- Participate in direct patient care activities including vital signs and specimen collection.
- Ensure accurate documentation and data management within electronic medical records.
- Support campaigns and initiatives aimed at improving patient health outcomes.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions and tasks.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Warmly greet patients and guests, ensuring a positive experience during their visit.
- Monitor patient flow and address any issues related to registration and check-in processes.
- Schedule appointments accurately and verify insurance coverage as required.
- Assist with patient care functions, including vital signs, phlebotomy, and diagnostic screenings.
- Document patient care information and ensure proper labeling of specimens for laboratory processing.
- Coordinate referrals and follow-ups with specialists and external providers.
- Participate in outreach efforts to reduce unnecessary emergency department visits.
- Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Adhere to organizational policies and demonstrate flexibility in work assignments.
Job Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or eligibility for national certification exam.
- Minimum 1 year experience as a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory care setting.
- Proficiency in navigating electronic medical records (EMR).
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and ability to recognize patient status indicators.
- Demonstrated customer service excellence and effective communication skills.
- Ability to perform age-specific patient care functions and adapt communication techniques accordingly.
- Flexibility to work varied hours between 8 AM and 6 PM as needed.
