Overview
- Lead and manage the Emergency Department, ensuring optimal patient care and operational efficiency.
- Provide 24-hour administrative oversight for Emergency Care Nursing Service functions.
- Develop and implement departmental plans, including performance improvement activities and regulatory compliance.
- Supervise and evaluate personnel, ensuring effective utilization of resources and staff development.
- Collaborate with physicians, staff, and administration to address nursing issues and hospital policies.
- Provide triage and treatment for pediatric, adult, and geriatric emergency patients.
- Interact with external agencies, patients, and families to deliver comprehensive care.
- Assume house supervisory responsibilities, including responding to hospital-wide codes.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Coordinate and oversee Emergency Department operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
- Develop and maintain departmental policies and procedures to enhance patient care quality.
- Supervise nursing staff, providing guidance and performance evaluations.
- Manage resource allocation, including staffing, equipment, and supplies.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to address patient care needs and hospital objectives.
- Ensure effective communication with patients, families, and external agencies.
- Monitor and evaluate departmental performance metrics, implementing improvements as needed.
- Provide leadership during emergency situations, ensuring prompt and effective response.
Job Requirements
- Current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or enrollment in a BSN program.
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
- Minimum of two years of supervisory/management experience in a healthcare setting.
- At least three years of clinical experience in acute care.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to manage emergency care operations.
- Ability to work on-site and provide 24-hour accountability for the department.
