Overview
- Provide professional nursing services, including administering vaccines, medications, and treatments as ordered by healthcare providers.
- Assist patients and families in understanding and participating in their care plans.
- Perform diagnostic procedures such as EKGs and venipuncture, ensuring accurate specimen processing.
- Maintain patient flow and assist in busy clinic practices, ensuring timely and efficient care delivery.
- Document patient care and procedures in electronic medical records accurately and promptly.
- Ensure infection control practices are adhered to, including sterilizing instruments and maintaining a clean environment.
- Educate patients on health practices and procedures as directed by healthcare providers.
- Maintain compliance with all safety, attendance, and appearance standards.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Administer vaccinations, Tuberculin Skin Tests, and other injectables as ordered by healthcare providers.
- Perform EKGs, venipuncture, and specimen processing for laboratory analysis.
- Prepare patients for medical visits, assist in obtaining patient histories, and measure vital signs.
- Document procedures and care provided in electronic medical records accurately.
- Manage specialty referrals, diagnostic imaging orders, and prior authorization requests.
- Sterilize medical instruments and maintain infection control practices between patient sessions.
- Educate patients on health practices and procedures as directed by licensed professionals.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain effective working relationships with peers and management.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; current New York State LPN licensure mandatory.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in practical nursing or related healthcare roles.
- Proficiency in administering injections, performing EKGs, and venipuncture procedures.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and ability to sterilize medical instruments effectively.
- Strong documentation skills for maintaining accurate electronic medical records.
- Ability to interpret and apply healthcare guidelines and procedures effectively.
- Current CPR certification for Healthcare Providers is required.
- Physical ability to perform healthcare services, including patient transfers and exposure to communicable diseases.
