Overview
- Lead safety performance and development initiatives across multiple projects and business units.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
- Develop and implement corporate safety programs and foster a strong safety culture.
- Conduct safety inspections and evaluate hazard and incident data to identify trends.
- Provide mentorship and training to safety department members and site operations staff.
- Lead crisis response and accident investigations independently.
- Research and evaluate OSHA regulations to address project-specific safety requirements.
- Develop and deliver safety toolbox meetings and project orientations effectively.
- Act as a technical resource for safety-related issues and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Manage workloads and staffing recommendations for direct reports based on project volume and departmental needs.
- Conduct performance evaluations and career development reviews for team members.
- Evaluate project compliance with safety regulations and procedures, addressing identified challenges.
- Analyze inspection and incident data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Lead OSHA and third-party safety inspections independently.
- Develop site-specific safety plans and conduct preconstruction safety meetings.
- Collaborate with project teams to execute safety stand-downs and training sessions.
- Research and trial new safety-related products for corporate and project use.
- Participate in corporate initiatives and committees to enhance safety practices.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in safety or related field preferred.
- Professional safety certifications such as CHST, CSP, or equivalent are preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in construction safety; 8 years preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of high-hazard technical areas like cranes, fall protection, and excavation.
- Strong analytical and research skills to define and solve safety-related problems.
- Proficiency in OSHA regulations and safety inspection processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to flexible and changing schedules and handle confidential information.
- Willingness to respond to emergency or crisis conditions as needed.
