Job Description

Overview

  • Lead accounting operations and financial reporting for a dynamic real estate investment portfolio.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and oversee external fund administration processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on acquisitions, valuations, and investor relations.
  • Drive process improvements and technology initiatives within accounting systems.
  • Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering excellence and best practices.
  • Manage audit and tax processes, ensuring accurate financial and investor reporting.
  • Provide strategic insights and financial analysis to support organizational goals.
  • Oversee internal controls and ensure data accuracy and compliance with policies.
  • Lead special accounting projects, including software implementation and business process reviews.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards.
  • Collaborate with Investor Relations on partner communications and financial reporting.
  • Analyze complex transactions and ensure accurate accounting for acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Coordinate audit and tax processes, ensuring timely delivery of financials and reports.
  • Manage relationships with external fund administrators, ensuring deliverables meet standards.
  • Collaborate on asset valuations, forecasts, and budgets with investment committees.
  • Develop efficient accounting processes and lead technology and automation initiatives.
  • Respond to investor and management queries, providing strategic financial insights.
  • Mentor and oversee accounting staff, ensuring adherence to best practices.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred.
  • 7-10 years of accounting experience, with substantial expertise in real estate accounting.
  • Proficiency in GAAP compliance, financial reporting, and ledger reconciliation.
  • Experience with partnership accounting, fee calculations, and external administration oversight.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Proven ability to implement accounting systems and drive process improvements.
  • Strong analytical skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Familiarity with business combinations and purchase price allocation preferred.
