Job Description

Overview

  • Lead financial operations and reporting for a healthcare organization, ensuring compliance with internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering an environment of collaboration and professional growth.
  • Coordinate and oversee internal and external audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage month-end close processes and ensure timely reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare budgets, cost reports, and ad hoc financial analyses under the direction of senior leadership.
  • Ensure the integrity of financial statements and balance sheets through meticulous review and attestation.
  • Collaborate with hospital management to align financial strategies with organizational goals.
  • Maintain compliance with healthcare financial regulations and ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Supervise the Assistant Controller and accounting personnel, ensuring quality service and technical expertise.
  • Organize departmental functions, assigning responsibilities and monitoring activities for timely completion.
  • Establish productivity goals and foster open communication within the department and with hospital management.
  • Facilitate the preparation of budgets, cost reports, and financial analyses as directed.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
  • Oversee month-end close processes and ensure timely reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
  • Maintain and document internal controls in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley 404 requirements.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the balance sheet and complete monthly financial attestations.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with 1-2 years supervising accountants.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis tools.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work on-site and collaborate effectively with hospital management.
