Overview
- Lead financial operations and reporting for a healthcare organization, ensuring compliance with internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering an environment of collaboration and professional growth.
- Coordinate and oversee internal and external audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Manage month-end close processes and ensure timely reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
- Prepare budgets, cost reports, and ad hoc financial analyses under the direction of senior leadership.
- Ensure the integrity of financial statements and balance sheets through meticulous review and attestation.
- Collaborate with hospital management to align financial strategies with organizational goals.
- Maintain compliance with healthcare financial regulations and ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Supervise the Assistant Controller and accounting personnel, ensuring quality service and technical expertise.
- Organize departmental functions, assigning responsibilities and monitoring activities for timely completion.
- Establish productivity goals and foster open communication within the department and with hospital management.
- Facilitate the preparation of budgets, cost reports, and financial analyses as directed.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
- Oversee month-end close processes and ensure timely reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
- Maintain and document internal controls in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley 404 requirements.
- Ensure the accuracy of the balance sheet and complete monthly financial attestations.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with 1-2 years supervising accountants.
- Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations and internal controls.
- Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis tools.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work on-site and collaborate effectively with hospital management.
