Overview
- Lead laboratory operations across a healthcare system, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and quality assurance.
- Drive system integration of laboratory policies, procedures, and supply chain management.
- Provide operational guidance to local site management for laboratory services.
- Promote standardization and efficiency within laboratory operations across the healthcare system.
- Ensure laboratories meet or exceed established financial, quality, and service KPIs.
- Collaborate with corporate laboratory leadership for policy and procedural alignment.
- Support the department by performing routine laboratory testing as needed.
- Encourage professional development and continuous growth among laboratory personnel.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Plan, organize, and direct laboratory department activities to achieve operational excellence.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for laboratory operations.
- Manage fiscal operations, including budgeting and cost-effective equipment procurement.
- Monitor department performance and implement changes to improve services and compliance.
- Oversee staff selection, training, and performance evaluations, ensuring high competence levels.
- Coordinate laboratory functions with other hospital departments and promote public relations.
- Encourage staff participation in professional development and inter-laboratory collaboration.
- Resolve conflicts and maintain effective working relations within the department.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in a scientific field, meeting CLIA requirements.
- Valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Technologist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist certification; ASCP preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory clinical laboratory experience required.
- General accounting, statistics, and financial operating experience desired.
- Quality control and quality tools management knowledge preferred.
- LEAN Six Sigma certification and Master’s degree preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to manage system-wide laboratory operations.
- Ability to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory standards.
