Job Description

Overview

  • Provide preventative oral health care services as a licensed Dental Hygienist in a professional clinical setting.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and treatment plans to promote optimal dental health.
  • Perform clinical procedures including dental cleanings, scaling, root planning, and administering therapeutic agents.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards for infection control and bloodborne pathogens.
  • Conduct oral cancer screenings, periodontal assessments, and chart dental findings accurately.
  • Prepare and maintain operatory setups before and after patient treatments.
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with the dental team to ensure high-quality patient care and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform dental cleanings and administer fluoride treatments to patients.
  • Expose and process radiographs for diagnostic purposes.
  • Administer local anesthesia and therapeutic agents as required.
  • Inspect and sterilize dental instruments, ensuring operatory cleanliness and readiness.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene strategies, including brushing, flossing, and nutrition.
  • Review and update patient medical histories, identifying contraindications and requesting medical clearance.
  • Perform oral cancer screenings and periodontal assessments, documenting findings accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and universal precautions.

Job Requirements

  • Vocational, Technical, or Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene required.
  • Licensure as a Dental Hygienist in the state of Massachusetts mandatory.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
  • Proof of immunity for MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and Tdap vaccinations required.
  • Recent Tuberculosis (TB) skin test results with documentation mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of infection control practices and OSHA standards.
  • Ability to perform clinical procedures with precision and care.
  • Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration.
