Overview
- Provide preventative oral health care services as a licensed Dental Hygienist in a professional clinical setting.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and treatment plans to promote optimal dental health.
- Perform clinical procedures including dental cleanings, scaling, root planning, and administering therapeutic agents.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards for infection control and bloodborne pathogens.
- Conduct oral cancer screenings, periodontal assessments, and chart dental findings accurately.
- Prepare and maintain operatory setups before and after patient treatments.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure high-quality patient care and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Perform dental cleanings and administer fluoride treatments to patients.
- Expose and process radiographs for diagnostic purposes.
- Administer local anesthesia and therapeutic agents as required.
- Inspect and sterilize dental instruments, ensuring operatory cleanliness and readiness.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene strategies, including brushing, flossing, and nutrition.
- Review and update patient medical histories, identifying contraindications and requesting medical clearance.
- Perform oral cancer screenings and periodontal assessments, documenting findings accurately.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and universal precautions.
Job Requirements
- Vocational, Technical, or Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene required.
- Licensure as a Dental Hygienist in the state of Massachusetts mandatory.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
- Proof of immunity for MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and Tdap vaccinations required.
- Recent Tuberculosis (TB) skin test results with documentation mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of infection control practices and OSHA standards.
- Ability to perform clinical procedures with precision and care.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration.
