Job Description

Overview

  • Serve as a Dental Hygienist, providing preventive oral health care services and patient education.
  • Perform clinical tasks such as dental cleanings, radiographs, and administering therapeutic agents.
  • Adhere to OSHA standards for infection control and universal precautions.
  • Conduct oral cancer screenings, periodontal assessments, and chart dental findings.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene strategies and nutritional counseling.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA patient privacy policies.
  • Maintain operatory sterility and prepare treatment bays for patient care.
  • Collaborate with the dental team to promote optimal oral health.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide dental education, including oral hygiene instructions and treatment plan reviews.
  • Perform scaling, root planing, and administer local anesthesia as required.
  • Dispense fluoride and other therapeutic agents to patients.
  • Inspect and sterilize dental instruments, ensuring operatory cleanliness.
  • Collect and update patient medical histories, identifying contraindications.
  • Conduct screenings and assessments for oral cancer and periodontal health.
  • Teach patients effective oral hygiene practices, including brushing and flossing techniques.
  • Follow established protocols for infection control and patient safety.

Job Requirements

  • Vocational, Technical, or Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene.
  • Licensure as a Dental Hygienist in the state of Massachusetts.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in dental hygiene.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and infection control protocols.
  • Ability to perform dental cleanings, radiographs, and administer therapeutic agents.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA privacy policies and patient confidentiality practices.
  • Proof of immunity for MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and Tdap vaccinations.
  • Recent Tuberculosis skin test results with documented induration measurements.
