Overview

  • Serve as a vital member of the care team, providing clinical and administrative support to ensure patient-centered care.
  • Assist healthcare providers in delivering high-quality care and maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Work under the supervision of the Practice Administrator and collaborate with the Nurse Manager.
  • Utilize your knowledge of medical terminology and customer service skills to enhance patient experiences.
  • Perform direct patient care tasks, including vital signs, phlebotomy, and diagnostic screenings.
  • Engage in administrative duties such as patient registration, scheduling, and insurance verification.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Contribute to a supportive and professional work environment, fostering teamwork and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Warmly greet patients and guests, ensuring a welcoming and professional atmosphere.
  • Monitor patient flow and proactively address registration and scheduling issues.
  • Perform accurate patient registration, demographic data entry, and insurance verification.
  • Assist care teams with clinical campaigns and initiatives to improve patient outcomes.
  • Collect and label specimens accurately, ensuring proper documentation and preparation for laboratory analysis.
  • Coordinate referrals and follow-ups with external specialists, providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Document patient care information in electronic medical records, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures, demonstrating professionalism and discretion.

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or eligibility for national certification exam.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a medical assistant in an ambulatory care setting.
  • Proficiency in navigating electronic medical records and healthcare systems.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and patient care procedures.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to perform age-specific patient care functions and modify approaches accordingly.
