Overview
- Lead and mentor hospice nursing staff, ensuring quality care and adherence to program goals and policies.
- Balance fieldwork and office responsibilities, with 80% in the field and 20% administrative tasks.
- Carry a reduced caseload compared to field staff, focusing on patient care and management.
- Provide professional development opportunities and growth guidance to nursing staff.
- Collaborate with the Hospice Nurse Manager to ensure program consistency and staff mentorship.
- Work in a hybrid environment, combining field visits in Upper Manhattan and office duties.
- Engage in rotating weekend schedules to support patient care needs.
- Utilize strong communication and leadership skills to manage and inspire the team effectively.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Supervise and mentor hospice nursing staff, fostering professional growth and development.
- Carry a reduced patient caseload, delivering high-quality hospice and palliative care services.
- Conduct field visits for case management and staff supervision in Upper Manhattan.
- Coordinate staff orientation and training to ensure program standards are met.
- Assist the Hospice Nurse Manager in daily operations and strategic planning.
- Ensure compliance with program policies and procedures in all care activities.
- Participate in administrative duties, including documentation and team meetings.
- Provide leadership in patient care and staff management during rotating weekend schedules.
Job Requirements
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Nursing; BSN preferred.
- Minimum of six years of nursing experience, preferably in hospice care.
- Supervisory or leadership experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- New York State RN licensure required; CHPN certification preferred or obtained within one year.
- Proficiency in Word, Outlook, and Windows applications.
- Strong ability to supervise and mentor hospice nursing staff effectively.
- Availability for rotating weekend schedules and fieldwork in Upper Manhattan.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage team dynamics.
