Overview

  • The Estimator role focuses on delivering precise cost assessments for diverse construction projects, ensuring competitive pricing and supporting preconstruction efforts.
  • Analyze project documentation, including drawings and specifications, to develop detailed and accurate cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with project teams to establish pricing strategies and explore value engineering opportunities.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of pricing, subcontractors, and historical cost data for planning purposes.
  • Engage in bid reviews and stakeholder presentations to align project goals and secure opportunities.
  • Utilize advanced estimating software to streamline processes and enhance cost estimation accuracy.
  • Contribute to budget development, proposal preparation, and securing project opportunities.
  • Work on-site to foster effective collaboration with teams and stakeholders, ensuring project success.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing project drawings, specifications, and documentation.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids to ensure competitive pricing and quality.
  • Develop quantity take-offs, material pricing, labor estimates, and project timelines.
  • Assist in bid proposals, budget development, and value engineering initiatives.
  • Collaborate with project teams during preconstruction phases to support pricing strategies.
  • Participate in bid reviews and presentations with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of pricing, subcontractors, and cost histories.
  • Utilize estimating software to enhance efficiency and accuracy in cost assessments.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a relevant field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience in commercial construction; 10 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in estimating software such as Bluebeam, ProEst, Sage, or similar tools.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, industry practices, and cost estimation techniques.
  • Experience in estimating projects within sectors like Commercial, Federal, Healthcare, or Higher Education.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • On-site work arrangement to facilitate collaboration and project success.
