Overview
- Lead surgical services operations, ensuring high-quality patient care and nursing practices.
- Oversee Operating Rooms at multiple locations, maintaining operational excellence.
- Develop and implement nursing department policies, procedures, and standards.
- Provide clinical direction and evaluate nursing staff performance.
- Plan and execute leadership development programs for staff.
- Ensure compliance with safety and legal requirements within the department.
- Participate in budget planning and monitor fiscal decision-making.
- Facilitate effective communication among staff, physicians, patients, and families.
- Serve on hospital and departmental committees to enhance operations.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Develop and evaluate nursing department philosophy, objectives, and protocols.
- Set standards of care and professional practices for the Operating Room.
- Direct staff in applying the nursing process effectively.
- Hire, discipline, and appraise performance of direct reports.
- Plan and implement quality improvement activities within the unit.
- Monitor and manage unit budgets and fiscal responsibilities.
- Enhance patient satisfaction through effective communication mechanisms.
- Ensure adherence to hospital attendance policies and safety standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned during emergencies.
Job Requirements
- Registered Professional Nurse licensed in New York State.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years clinical and leadership experience in Operating Rooms.
- Demonstrated competence as a nursing practitioner.
- Acute inpatient OR management experience is essential.
- Strong skills in policy development, staff evaluation, and quality improvement.
- Ability to manage budgets and ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Effective communication and leadership skills.
