Job Description

Overview

  • Lead surgical services operations, ensuring high-quality patient care and nursing practices.
  • Oversee Operating Rooms at multiple locations, maintaining operational excellence.
  • Develop and implement nursing department policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Provide clinical direction and evaluate nursing staff performance.
  • Plan and execute leadership development programs for staff.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and legal requirements within the department.
  • Participate in budget planning and monitor fiscal decision-making.
  • Facilitate effective communication among staff, physicians, patients, and families.
  • Serve on hospital and departmental committees to enhance operations.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop and evaluate nursing department philosophy, objectives, and protocols.
  • Set standards of care and professional practices for the Operating Room.
  • Direct staff in applying the nursing process effectively.
  • Hire, discipline, and appraise performance of direct reports.
  • Plan and implement quality improvement activities within the unit.
  • Monitor and manage unit budgets and fiscal responsibilities.
  • Enhance patient satisfaction through effective communication mechanisms.
  • Ensure adherence to hospital attendance policies and safety standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned during emergencies.

Job Requirements

  • Registered Professional Nurse licensed in New York State.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years clinical and leadership experience in Operating Rooms.
  • Demonstrated competence as a nursing practitioner.
  • Acute inpatient OR management experience is essential.
  • Strong skills in policy development, staff evaluation, and quality improvement.
  • Ability to manage budgets and ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to enhancing patient satisfaction and operational excellence.
