Job Description

Overview

  • Support attorneys in managing creditor-focused bankruptcy cases, ensuring compliance with legal standards and deadlines.
  • Prepare and file bankruptcy pleadings, ensuring accuracy and adherence to court requirements.
  • Assist in complex Chapter 11 cases, managing critical deadlines and maintaining detailed case documentation.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including retention applications and claims reconciliation reports.
  • Coordinate with court staff, claims agents, and clients to ensure seamless case progression.
  • Prepare for hearings and trials, ensuring all materials and arrangements are in place.
  • Conduct research and analysis to support case strategies and decision-making processes.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive legal information.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Draft, file, and serve legal pleadings while managing associated deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with local and federal bankruptcy rules during case management.
  • Maintain organized case files, calendars, and trackers for efficient workflow.
  • Coordinate with attorneys, clients, and external professionals for case discussions.
  • Monitor case dockets and summarize relevant pleadings for team review.
  • Assist in preparing for hearings and trials, including arranging appearances and compiling materials.
  • Respond to inquiries from creditors and provide detailed case-related information.
  • Conduct investigative research to support case development and strategy.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of four years of relevant bankruptcy experience.
  • Proficiency in CM/ECF electronic filing systems for bankruptcy courts.
  • Strong understanding of bankruptcy concepts, pleadings, and claims reconciliation processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in sensitive matters.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for managing complex cases.
