Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage day-to-day operations, including staffing, patient flow, and resource allocation during shifts.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and supervision to nursing staff, ensuring clinical excellence.
  • Monitor compliance with clinical protocols, policies, and regulatory standards.
  • Serve as a liaison between staff, patients, families, and hospital leadership.
  • Identify and address operational or clinical issues promptly to enhance outcomes.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with specialty areas for seamless patient transitions and long-term outcomes.
  • Ensure effective communication within the department and with external stakeholders.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Current RN license or eligibility to practice in the District of Columbia.
  • Minimum of 4 years of emergency department nursing experience; 5 years preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a leadership role within emergency care.
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS required; TNCC and CEN preferred.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
  • Experience in performance improvement and strategic planning initiatives.
