Overview

  • Provide advanced nursing care in cardiovascular surgery, focusing on open-heart procedures and patient recovery in a dynamic hospital setting.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes and adherence to high standards of care.
  • Engage in case-finding, health teaching, and counseling to support patient well-being and recovery.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to cardiovascular surgery patients during preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases.
  • Monitor patient conditions, administer medications, and manage medical equipment with precision and care.
  • Coordinate with surgeons and anesthesiologists to ensure seamless procedural operations and patient safety.
  • Document patient care activities comprehensively and maintain accurate medical records for continuity of care.
  • Educate patients and families about recovery processes, health management, and preventive care strategies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to evidence-based practices to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Maintain proficiency in cardiac nursing techniques and technologies through ongoing training and education.
  • Support the department in achieving operational goals and delivering exceptional patient care services.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution is required.
  • Current Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license in New York State is mandatory.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; advanced certifications are preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of RN experience in cardiovascular procedures; 5 years preferred.
  • Proficiency in English communication and computer skills is essential for effective documentation and collaboration.
  • Strong clinical expertise in cardiac nursing and patient care management is highly valued.
  • Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment is required.
