Job Description

Overview

  • Provide medical support to healthcare providers and assist with clinical activities under the supervision of the Nurse Manager.
  • Ensure clinic operations run smoothly by maintaining equipment and supplies and preparing patient documentation.
  • Perform patient intake procedures, including obtaining chief complaints and vital signs, and document them accurately.
  • Assist with patient care tasks and procedures as directed by medical providers or the Nurse Manager.
  • Maintain universal precautions and adhere to clinical safety standards during all activities.
  • Perform phlebotomy and other clinical tasks as required to support patient care.
  • Ensure readiness for schedule changes, including late clinics and potential Saturday shifts.
  • Collaborate effectively with a diverse patient population, including HIV, LGBTQ, pediatric, adult, and homeless individuals.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Organize and prepare patient summary sheets and charts for daily clinic operations.
  • Check exam rooms for readiness, restock supplies, and clean as necessary.
  • Call patients from the lobby into exam rooms and assist with their intake.
  • Obtain and document patient vital signs in the electronic medical record system.
  • Assist medical providers with patient care tasks and procedures as needed.
  • Perform phlebotomy and other clinical tasks to support patient care.
  • Maintain universal precautions and adhere to clinical safety standards during all activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with a diverse patient population to ensure high-quality care.
  • Adapt to schedule changes, including late clinics and potential Saturday shifts.

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; Medical Assistant certification mandatory.
  • Minimum of 1 year of healthcare experience preferred; entry-level candidates considered.
  • Bilingual candidates preferred to support diverse patient populations.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records systems and basic computer literacy required.
  • Strong clinical skills and ability to perform phlebotomy effectively.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients and team members.
  • Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes, including late clinics and Saturday shifts.
