Overview
- The Senior Accountant, General Ledger, ensures accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulations, supporting the company's accounting activities and processes.
- This role involves managing daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, general ledger, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with FAR, CAS, company policies, and internal controls.
- Assist in preparation of tax returns, including sales tax, income tax, and other filings.
- Collaborate on the development and implementation of new financial processes for efficiency.
- Support year-end audits and prepare necessary workpapers and documentation.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts and review team member reconciliations.
- Prepare financial statements and ensure accurate revenue recognition per GAAP standards.
- Monitor indirect cost rates and align them with billing rates and submissions.
- Assist in preparing incurred cost submissions and resolving transaction discrepancies.
- Support payroll system integration with accounting systems for alignment.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and assist in tax return preparation.
- Contribute to the development of financial processes and perform other assigned duties.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Minimum of 6 years of accounting experience, including payroll and senior-level responsibilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; experience with Microsoft Navision/Business Central preferred.
- Knowledge of GAAP standards, tax laws, and payroll regulations.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Concur and payroll certifications (e.g., CPP) or CPA designation preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Familiarity with FAR, CAS, and government accounting practices is advantageous.
