Job Description

Overview

  • Provide exceptional nursing care in labor and delivery settings, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive obstetric care.
  • Utilize advanced nursing skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies and state regulations.
  • Participate in continuing education to stay updated on nursing practices.

  • Ensure proper documentation of patient care and procedures.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform comprehensive assessments of antepartum, labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum patients.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Monitor fetal and maternal health using advanced equipment and techniques.
  • Provide emotional support and education to patients and families.
  • Ensure sterile techniques and maintain sterile fields during procedures.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and hospital programs.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.

Job Requirements

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (AS) degree required.
  • Current New Mexico RN license and BLS certification mandatory.
  • ACLS certification preferred; NRP certification within nine months of hire.
  • Completion of fetal monitoring course within six months of hire.
  • Minimum of one year nursing experience; two years preferred.
  • Proficiency in newborn assessment and care, sterile techniques, and patient education.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings and meet physical demands.
