Overview
- Provide essential support to healthcare providers in an ambulatory care setting, ensuring efficient patient care and administrative operations.
- Assist in clinical services and administrative tasks to promote best-in-class care and population health initiatives.
- Work under the supervision of the Practice Administrator and in collaboration with the Nurse Manager.
- Engage with patients and guests, ensuring excellent customer service and timely communication.
- Perform patient registration, scheduling, and check-out processes using electronic systems.
- Support referral coordination, ensuring seamless communication with external specialists and facilities.
- Conduct outreach to at-risk patients to reduce unnecessary emergency visits and admissions.
- Participate in direct patient care under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Greet patients warmly and assist with resolving service or clinical issues.
- Answer telephones professionally, utilizing excellent customer service skills.
- Schedule appointments accurately and verify insurance coverage.
- Perform patient registration, ensuring data integrity and scanning necessary documents.
- Coordinate referrals and additional tests, providing patients with necessary information.
- Assist care teams with health campaigns and initiatives.
- Perform direct patient care tasks, including vital signs, phlebotomy, and diagnostic screenings.
- Document patient care information accurately in electronic medical records.
- Maintain professionalism and adhere to confidentiality standards.
Job Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
- Certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program or eligibility for national certification exam required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a medical assistant in an ambulatory care setting required.
- Proficiency in navigating electronic medical records systems required.
- Preferred 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and patient care protocols.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to perform age-specific patient care functions effectively.
- Flexibility to work varied hours between 8 AM and 6 PM.
