Overview
- Lead the Emergency Department as a Nurse Director, ensuring optimal patient care and operational efficiency.
- Assume 24-hour administrative responsibility for emergency care nursing services and departmental management.
- Develop and implement departmental plans, performance improvement activities, and regulatory compliance measures.
- Collaborate with staff, physicians, and administration to address nursing issues and hospital policies.
- Provide triage and treatment to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients seeking emergency care.
- Interact with outside agencies, patients, and families to deliver comprehensive care.
- Respond to hospital codes, assess situations, and ensure proper documentation.
- Supervise and evaluate Emergency Department personnel, ensuring effective utilization of resources.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Manage and coordinate all Emergency Care Nursing Service functions within the department.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the delivery of patient care in the Emergency Department.
- Develop departmental plans, including performance improvement activities and compliance with regulations.
- Supervise and evaluate personnel assigned to the Emergency Department.
- Consult and communicate with staff, physicians, and administration regarding nursing issues.
- Provide triage and treatment to patients of all age groups seeking emergency care.
- Interact with external agencies and patient families to ensure comprehensive care.
- Respond to hospital codes and ensure appropriate documentation and follow-through.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; advanced certifications preferred.
- Current and valid state Registered Nurse license and BLS certification.
- ACLS and PALS certifications required upon hire and maintained.
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred for enhanced qualifications.
- Minimum of three years of clinical experience in acute care settings.
- Two years of supervisory or management experience in healthcare environments.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills essential.
- Ability to manage emergency codes and ensure proper documentation.
