Overview
- Serve as a Legal Secretary supporting multiple attorneys in a dynamic legal environment.
- Assist in complex commercial litigation cases, including trial preparation and filing processes.
- Prepare and manage legal documents such as TOCs and TOAs with precision.
- Coordinate docketing systems and ensure compliance with filing requirements.
- Collaborate with attorneys on case management and administrative tasks.
- Contribute to maintaining efficient office operations and supporting trial logistics.
- Participate in skill assessments to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Work in a hybrid setting with opportunities for remote work after initial on-site period.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Prepare and format legal documents, including briefs, TOCs, and TOAs.
- Manage filing processes in both state and federal jurisdictions.
- Support attorneys during trials, including travel arrangements and on-site assistance.
- Coordinate docketing and scheduling to ensure timely filings and compliance.
- Conduct administrative tasks to support case management and attorney needs.
- Participate in skill assessments to validate technical proficiency.
- Collaborate with attorneys to manage workload and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive legal information.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree required.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Legal Secretary; 10 years preferred.
- Expertise in complex commercial litigation and trial preparation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal docketing systems.
- Experience with filing processes in NY state and federal jurisdictions.
- Ability to manage multiple attorneys' workloads and prioritize tasks.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Flexibility to travel for trials and work overtime as needed.
