Job Description

Overview

  • Serve as a Legal Secretary supporting multiple attorneys in a dynamic legal environment.
  • Assist in complex commercial litigation cases, including trial preparation and filing processes.
  • Prepare and manage legal documents such as TOCs and TOAs with precision.
  • Coordinate docketing systems and ensure compliance with filing requirements.
  • Collaborate with attorneys on case management and administrative tasks.
  • Contribute to maintaining efficient office operations and supporting trial logistics.
  • Participate in skill assessments to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Work in a hybrid setting with opportunities for remote work after initial on-site period.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare and format legal documents, including briefs, TOCs, and TOAs.
  • Manage filing processes in both state and federal jurisdictions.
  • Support attorneys during trials, including travel arrangements and on-site assistance.
  • Coordinate docketing and scheduling to ensure timely filings and compliance.
  • Conduct administrative tasks to support case management and attorney needs.
  • Participate in skill assessments to validate technical proficiency.
  • Collaborate with attorneys to manage workload and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive legal information.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree required.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Legal Secretary; 10 years preferred.
  • Expertise in complex commercial litigation and trial preparation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal docketing systems.
  • Experience with filing processes in NY state and federal jurisdictions.
  • Ability to manage multiple attorneys' workloads and prioritize tasks.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to travel for trials and work overtime as needed.
