Job Description

Summary:

The Senior Manager for Strategic Sourcing Excellence will play a pivotal role in establishing and overseeing third-party risk management (TPRM) and supplier relationship management (SRM) initiatives within a leading global organization.

As a key member of the Strategic Sourcing Center of Excellence (COE) team, this individual will spearhead the development and implementation of top-tier sourcing practices in a dynamic and rapidly expanding setting.

The primary responsibilities of this role include crafting and maintaining robust TPRM and SRM processes, policies, and tools. This hybrid position, predominantly based in Cambridge, MA, will drive the establishment of new business processes, ensuring the creation and upkeep of operating models, procedures, and technological solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Global Strategic Sourcing TPRM and SRM Processes: Develop, implement, and manage processes and tools supporting third-party risk management and supplier relationship management initiatives.
  • Programs, Policies, and Guidelines: Devise and execute essential policies, operational guidelines, and programs to fortify risk management and supplier relationship management efforts.
  • Systems and AI: Establish and maintain systems dedicated to third-party risk management and SRM, with a focus on leveraging Artificial Intelligence for continuous process enhancement.
  • Development Programs: Design and deploy training initiatives for the Strategic Sourcing organization and broader company, in alignment with TPRM and SRM objectives.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Create and maintain a comprehensive metrics program to monitor performance effectively.
  • External Capabilities: Oversee key externally provided sourcing capabilities/services, including supplier risk monitoring and relevant data sources.
  • Relationship-building: Cultivate strong partnerships with internal stakeholders such as Financial Planning and Analysis, Finance Operations, Legal, Compliance, Human Resources, and peers within the Strategic Sourcing organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with a preference for a technical discipline; Master’s degree (MBA, MS) desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role within large or medium-sized procurement/sourcing organizations, ideally with 1 year in the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Leadership experience in implementing and managing best-in-class procurement/sourcing processes.
  • Proficiency in essential competencies such as communication, project management, relationship management, negotiation, financial acumen, analytical skills, technology aptitude, and professionalism.
  • Proven track record in successfully implementing process transformations and delivering significant savings across diverse environments.
  • Professional procurement certification (CPSM, MCIPS, etc.) desirable.
  • Experience operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and lean environment, coupled with excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership, and influencing skills.
