Job Description

Duties:

  • Under the direction of the Medical Director and/or Center Licensed Physician(s), the Physician Substitute determines the acceptability of all first-time donors and return applicant donors.
  • Determines the suitability of donors by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) designed to ensure the donor meets suitability criteria in accordance with FDA guidance and regulations.
  • Reviews normal donor laboratory test and refers abnormal test to the Physician for review.
  • Works closely with the Medical Director or Licensed Center Physician(s) while making any decisions which directly impact donor suitability.
  • Provides medical oversight in screening, phlebotomy, and the plasma processing areas.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current RN, LPN/LVN, or Advanced EMT/Paramedic license in the state the Donor Center operates.
  • Must be able to provide proof of graduation from a recognized educational program for health care workers that includes clinical training.
  • Must have basic computer skills to include an understanding of word processing, spreadsheets and email.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strict adherence to current good manufacturing procedures.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to interpret medical information to formulate appropriate actions.
  • Available to work extended shifts and weekends.
  • Occupational Exposure to blood borne pathogens.
  • Ability to lift, pull, or tug up to 40lbs.
  • Work requires extended periods of standing and bending.
  • Ability to train others required.
  • CPR certified or the ability to obtain certification.
  • Available to work extended shifts
  • Must be available to work any days Sunday – Saturday
