Job Description
Duties:
- Under the direction of the Medical Director and/or Center Licensed Physician(s), the Physician Substitute determines the acceptability of all first-time donors and return applicant donors.
- Determines the suitability of donors by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) designed to ensure the donor meets suitability criteria in accordance with FDA guidance and regulations.
- Reviews normal donor laboratory test and refers abnormal test to the Physician for review.
- Works closely with the Medical Director or Licensed Center Physician(s) while making any decisions which directly impact donor suitability.
- Provides medical oversight in screening, phlebotomy, and the plasma processing areas.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current RN, LPN/LVN, or Advanced EMT/Paramedic license in the state the Donor Center operates.
- Must be able to provide proof of graduation from a recognized educational program for health care workers that includes clinical training.
- Must have basic computer skills to include an understanding of word processing, spreadsheets and email.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strict adherence to current good manufacturing procedures.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to interpret medical information to formulate appropriate actions.
- Available to work extended shifts and weekends.
- Occupational Exposure to blood borne pathogens.
- Ability to lift, pull, or tug up to 40lbs.
- Work requires extended periods of standing and bending.
- Ability to train others required.
- CPR certified or the ability to obtain certification.
- Available to work extended shifts
- Must be available to work any days Sunday – Saturday
