Overview
- Serve as a Conflicts Attorney, analyzing and resolving potential conflicts of interest for new clients and matters.
- Draft and review waivers, engagement letters, and outside counsel guidelines to ensure compliance with firm policies.
- Implement ethical walls and maintain the integrity of the firm’s conflicts database.
- Conduct legal research and corporate family investigations to support conflict resolution processes.
- Train new team members in conflicts processes and procedures to ensure operational excellence.
- Collaborate with partners, associates, and analysts to address and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of professional conduct rules across jurisdictions.
- Contribute to risk management and compliance initiatives within the firm.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Review and analyze conflict reports for new clients, matters, and lateral candidates.
- Draft and review engagement letters and waiver provisions to address conflict concerns.
- Identify deviations in outside counsel guidelines and collaborate to resolve them.
- Implement and manage ethical walls to screen individuals from specific clients and matters.
- Conduct research using tools like Hoovers, Lexis/Westlaw, and public databases.
- Train and supervise conflicts team members, ensuring adherence to procedures.
- Maintain the firm’s conflicts database and ensure data integrity.
- Support risk management and compliance projects as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active bar licensure in at least one state and in good standing.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in law firm risk management or corporate compliance.
- Proficiency in conflict identification and clearance processes.
- Experience with Intapp Open, Walls, Terms, and Elite or similar systems.
- Strong knowledge of professional conduct rules and jurisdictional differences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and web-based research tools.
- Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
