Job Description

Overview

  • Lead the Emergency Department in delivering exceptional patient care and operational excellence in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership to align departmental objectives with organizational goals and standards.
  • Oversee daily operations, staffing, and resource allocation to ensure efficient emergency care delivery.
  • Foster professional growth and development among nursing staff through mentorship and guidance.
  • Implement evidence-based practices and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and trauma care requirements within the Emergency Department.
  • Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes to advance departmental success.
  • Promote a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the emergency care team.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Supervise and evaluate nursing care delivery to ensure adherence to protocols and standards.
  • Monitor departmental performance metrics and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate staffing schedules to optimize patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Facilitate effective communication among staff, patients, and families to ensure a positive care experience.
  • Oversee compliance with trauma and emergency care standards, including certifications and training requirements.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to address complex patient needs and improve care delivery.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance departmental operations.
  • Support staff development through training programs and performance evaluations.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; advanced degree preferred or actively pursuing.
  • Minimum of 3 years of acute care leadership experience in an Emergency Department setting.
  • Active RN license in the state of practice or compact license; certifications in ACLS, TNCC, NIH Stroke Scale, ENPC or PALS required.
  • Strong knowledge of trauma care standards and emergency department operations.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor nursing teams in high-pressure environments.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills to manage departmental functions effectively.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and evidence-based practice implementation.
  • Experience in strategic planning and collaboration with hospital leadership.
