Job Description

Overview

  • Serve as a key financial leader, ensuring compliance and accuracy in reporting within a dynamic construction environment.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to drive financial strategy and operational improvements.
  • Supervise and mentor finance team members, fostering professional growth and adherence to best practices.
  • Manage payroll, tax compliance, and regulatory documentation with precision and confidentiality.
  • Develop and implement policies to enhance financial integrity and operational efficiency.
  • Support audits, budgeting, and cost analysis to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with local and state tax regulations relevant to the construction industry.
  • Contribute to subcontractor prequalification processes, maintaining confidentiality of sensitive financial information.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support strategic planning.
  • Oversee general ledger management, payroll processing, and 401K administration.
  • Ensure compliance in payroll-related returns and IRS documentation.
  • Monitor job cost data and project accounting for accuracy and reliability.
  • Develop expertise in sales/use tax returns and industry-specific regulations.
  • Maintain licenses and tax accounts proactively to ensure compliance.
  • Support subcontractor financial evaluations and uphold confidentiality standards.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA license or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in construction financial and general ledger accounting.
  • Proficiency in communication, planning, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated with strong organizational abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of local and state tax regulations within the construction industry.
  • Experience in payroll processing, tax preparation, and compliance documentation.
  • Strong mentoring and training capabilities for junior staff development.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
