Job Description
Overview
- Provide Spanish-English interpretation for client interviews, hearings, and meetings, ensuring accuracy and impartiality in all communications.
- Translate written documents between Spanish and English, including legal declarations, correspondence, and case materials, maintaining accuracy and legal formatting.
- Prepare and sign Certificates of Translation to affirm the accuracy and completeness of translated materials.
- Support field visits to detention centers and community settings, coordinating logistics and adhering to facility requirements.
- Review case materials and collaborate with attorneys to ensure accurate interpretation and understanding of legal terminology.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold interpreter ethics, safeguarding client privilege at all times.
- Document assignments, hours, and session summaries, providing detailed records as required.
- Work onsite during standard business hours, adhering to a structured schedule and contributing to team objectives.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Perform consecutive interpretation for various legal proceedings, ensuring impartiality and accuracy in communication.
- Translate legal documents and correspondence, maintaining proper formatting and adherence to legal standards.
- Prepare Certificates of Translation, affirming the accuracy and completeness of translated materials.
- Coordinate logistics for field visits, ensuring compliance with facility requirements and maintaining professionalism.
- Collaborate with attorneys to understand case materials and legal terminology, ensuring accurate interpretation.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a related field.
- Fluency in Spanish and English, with proven proficiency in both languages.
- Experience with New York State or New Jersey court interpreting certification is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Comfortable with field visits and adhering to facility-specific requirements.
