Overview

  • Support complex litigation processes within a dynamic legal team specializing in family law and fiduciary matters.
  • Collaborate with attorneys to manage case files, ensuring compliance with legal procedures and deadlines.
  • Contribute to trial preparation, discovery, and document review to enhance case strategies.
  • Utilize legal research tools to provide insights and support litigation efforts effectively.
  • Engage in privilege reviews and create privilege logs for litigation cases.
  • Draft pleadings, discovery requests, and subpoenas under attorney supervision.
  • Maintain organization and attention to detail while managing multiple attorney workloads.
  • Adapt to hybrid work arrangements, balancing on-site and remote responsibilities seamlessly.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Draft and file legal documents, including pleadings and discovery responses, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Organize and review case documents for discovery, depositions, and trial preparation.
  • Conduct witness interviews and summarize findings for attorney review.
  • Perform privilege reviews and create privilege logs for litigation cases.
  • Prepare trial exhibits and materials, ensuring readiness for court proceedings.
  • Manage electronic filing systems, including MDEC and CaseFileXpress.
  • Utilize legal research tools like LexisNexis or Westlaw to support case strategies.
  • Coordinate deadlines and maintain attorney calendars for efficient case management.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate with 5+ years of litigation experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and litigation software for document management.
  • Strong knowledge of Maryland and D.C. legal rules and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills and professionalism when interacting with clients.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities for efficient task completion.
  • Ability to manage workloads and deadlines for multiple attorneys simultaneously.
  • Legal research expertise using platforms like LexisNexis or Westlaw.
