Job Description

Overview

  • Provide advanced clinical expertise and leadership in neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) settings.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality patient care and adherence to standards.
  • Develop and implement orientation programs and clinical mentoring for nursing staff.
  • Promote evidence-based practices and performance improvement initiatives within the NICU.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor for staff, fostering professional growth and development.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and professional standards.
  • Support the hospital's mission, vision, and commitment to patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide clinical expertise and mentorship to NICU nursing staff.
  • Develop and deliver educational programs and presentations for staff development.
  • Collaborate with leadership to implement quality improvement initiatives.
  • Promote continuity of care and patient safety through evidence-based practices.
  • Utilize data analysis to enhance clinical outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate patient care.
  • Ensure adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing with Clinical Nurse Specialist certification required; Doctorate preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of NICU experience; four years in acute care nursing preferred.
  • Current California RN and Clinical Nurse Specialist licenses required.
  • CPR and NRP certifications required; instructor certification preferred.
  • National certification in neonatal care (RNC-NIC or CCRN) preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer applications (Word, Excel, email) required.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and program development skills.
