Job Description

Overview

  • Manage infection control programs, ensuring compliance with health regulations and standards.
  • Coordinate orientation and training for new nursing staff, ensuring competency.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to enhance infection prevention strategies.
  • Monitor and analyze infection data, reporting findings to relevant authorities.
  • Lead educational initiatives on infection control practices for all staff.
  • Facilitate compliance with DOH and JCAHO standards during surveys.
  • Participate in quality improvement committees and antibiotic stewardship programs.
  • Coordinate vaccination programs for residents and employees.
  • Maintain professional development through seminars and workshops.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Oversee infection control programs, including outbreak response and immunization coordination.
  • Develop and update infection control policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate infection control committee meetings and follow up on concerns.
  • Provide staff education on infection prevention and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with clinical leaders to address performance improvement needs.
  • Ensure compliance with DOH and JCAHO standards during inspections.
  • Monitor and report infection statistics to relevant authorities.
  • Facilitate student nurse clinical learning experiences with external agencies.
  • Act as a resource for continuing education activities for staff.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Current Registered Professional Nurse license in New York State.
  • Specialized training in infection prevention and control.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in infection control management.
  • APIC certification preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of DOH and JCAHO regulations.
  • Proficiency in performance improvement and quality assurance processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • BCLS certification required.
