Overview
- The Infection Control Specialist ensures effective infection prevention practices and compliance within the healthcare facility.
- Collaborates with clinical teams to enhance staff competency and performance in infection control.
- Coordinates orientation and ongoing education for nursing and clinical staff.
- Leads the implementation of infection control policies and procedures.
- Oversees immunization programs for residents and staff.
- Acts as chairperson for the Infection Control Committee, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives and regulatory surveys.
- Maintains professional knowledge through seminars and workshops.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Develop and implement infection control policies and procedures.
- Coordinate response to infectious outbreaks and report to health authorities.
- Provide staff education on infection prevention practices.
- Chair Infection Control Committee meetings and ensure follow-up on issues.
- Monitor compliance with regulatory standards and participate in surveys.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Current Registered Professional Nurse license in New York State.
- Specialized training in infection prevention and control.
- Minimum of four years of relevant experience; five years preferred.
- BCLS Certification required; APIC certification preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in regulatory compliance and quality improvement practices.
- Ability to lead educational initiatives and staff training programs.
