Job Description

Overview

  • Lead the strategic direction and operational excellence of perioperative services, ensuring high-quality patient care and clinical outcomes.
  • Oversee surgical departments including inpatient and outpatient operating rooms, PACU, and specialized surgical units.
  • Collaborate with medical staff and hospital leadership to drive efficiency and innovation in surgical services.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and promote a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance service quality and operational performance.
  • Foster professional growth and teamwork among surgical staff to achieve departmental goals.
  • Manage resources, workflows, and budgets to optimize surgical operations and patient outcomes.
  • Promote a patient-centered approach across all aspects of perioperative care.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide leadership and oversight for surgical departments, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and standards.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to advance surgical services and support institutional growth.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure efficient operations.
  • Ensure adherence to accreditation, regulatory, and safety requirements within perioperative services.
  • Collaborate with surgeons and nursing staff to implement quality improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and patient outcomes to identify areas for enhancement.
  • Lead recruitment, retention, and professional development efforts for surgical personnel.
  • Serve as a liaison between surgical services and executive leadership to align strategic priorities.
  • Oversee capital planning for surgical equipment and technology upgrades.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; advanced certifications are advantageous.
  • Current, unrestricted RN license and certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
  • Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) certification preferred but not mandatory.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in surgical nursing; 5 years preferred.
  • Proven expertise in managing surgical services operations and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to drive departmental success.
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance surgical services.
  • Ability to manage budgets, resources, and personnel effectively and efficiently.
