Overview
- Provide compassionate and professional care in an oncology clinic setting, focusing on patient and family support during cancer treatment.
- Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, and other medications following evidence-based safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure cohesive and effective patient care delivery.
- Perform comprehensive assessments and monitoring of patients throughout their treatment process.
- Document patient care accurately using electronic medical record systems.
- Stay updated on advancements in oncology treatments and nursing standards.
- Work full-time with flexible shift options and occasional travel to satellite clinics.
- Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations regarding nursing practice.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, and other medications following appropriate guidelines and standards.
- Monitor and respond to adverse drug reactions and emergencies effectively.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including IV and port access, maintaining vascular devices, and administering IV medications.
- Evaluate and verify provider orders with accuracy, ensuring safe administration processes.
- Collaborate with providers and staff to ensure cohesive patient care.
- Provide education to patients and families on managing treatment side effects.
- Handle hazardous materials safely following USP 800 guidelines.
- Maintain licensure and certifications, ensuring compliance with nursing standards.
Job Requirements
- Nursing degree (Associate, Diploma, or Baccalaureate) from an accredited institution.
- Current RN License in the State of Oregon and Basic Life Support certification.
- Proficiency in IV access and administration of chemotherapeutic agents.
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification within two years of hire.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems preferred.
- Two years of recent RN experience; oncology clinical experience preferred.
- Bilingual skills are a plus for effective patient communication.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
