Job Description

Overview

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in an outpatient/ambulatory clinic setting, ensuring adherence to established standards and protocols.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care strategies effectively.
  • Educate patients and families on health maintenance, treatments, and procedures to promote understanding and compliance.
  • Perform clinical tasks including triage, medication administration, and therapeutic treatments as per protocols.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities and outcomes in compliance with standards.
  • Act as a resource and advocate for patients, connecting them with appropriate services and support.
  • Ensure patient safety and infection control measures are consistently applied in the clinic environment.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge in nursing practices.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct systematic assessments of patients’ physical, psychosocial, and spiritual health to determine care needs.
  • Administer medications and perform therapeutic treatments, including respiratory interventions and CPR as required.
  • Coordinate patient care activities, delegating tasks to allied nursing personnel where appropriate.
  • Provide telephone triage and communicate test results in collaboration with healthcare providers.
  • Educate patients and families about treatments, procedures, and self-care strategies to ensure understanding.
  • Monitor and manage clinical inventory, ensuring availability of necessary supplies and forms.
  • Promote patient safety and infection control practices in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities and maintain confidentiality in patient care management.

Job Requirements

  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Nursing or equivalent educational background required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in ambulatory, medical surgery, or emergency room settings preferred.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in New York State with current RN registration certificate.
  • Certifications in BCLS, Infection Control, and Child Abuse required.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform venipuncture and administer medications including immunizations.
  • Strong clinical, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills essential for the role.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills including typing and familiarity with information systems.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred to enhance patient communication.
