Overview
- Provide comprehensive nursing care in a school-based health clinic, ensuring the well-being of students and staff.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose, and treat health issues in an ambulatory care setting.
- Educate patients and families on health maintenance strategies and self-care practices.
- Coordinate patient care activities and ensure adherence to clinic policies and standards.
- Perform clinical tasks including medication administration, therapeutic treatments, and emergency response.
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold patient confidentiality in all interactions.
- Contribute to a supportive and professional clinic environment, fostering teamwork and collaboration.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to enhance nursing competencies.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Assess and triage patients, providing appropriate care and referrals as needed.
- Administer medications, including immunizations, and perform venipuncture procedures.
- Educate patients and families on treatments, procedures, and health maintenance strategies.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Ensure compliance with infection control standards and safety guidelines.
- Document patient interactions and care activities accurately and promptly.
- Supervise and mentor allied nursing personnel and students in clinical settings.
- Participate in clinic performance improvement initiatives and special projects.
Job Requirements
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Nursing or equivalent required; BSN preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in ambulatory care, medical surgery, or emergency settings.
- Licensed Registered Nurse in New York State with current RN registration certificate.
- Current certifications in BCLS, Infection Control, and Child Abuse prevention.
- Proficiency in performing venipuncture, administering medications, and using basic computer systems.
- Strong clinical, communication, and organizational skills with a focus on patient advocacy.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred to enhance patient communication.
