Job Description

Overview

  • Collaborate with finance and health plan leadership to inform market-level decision-making in Medicare Advantage Medical Economics.
  • Independently develop and deliver medical economics analyses to support strategic planning and financial forecasting.
  • Provide consultative support to ensure leaders understand medical cost performance and emerging risks.
  • Contribute analytic insights and subject-matter expertise across Medicare medical economics topics.
  • Translate complex cost dynamics into actionable implications for strategy, pricing, and financial planning.
  • Accountable for specific analytic workstreams, recurring deliverables, or targeted assessments tied to Medicare financial performance.
  • Operate effectively in a contractor capacity, owning analytic deliverables and collaborating with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Produce and synthesize analytic output related to medical cost, utilization, mix, and unit cost dynamics.
  • Identify emerging risks and opportunities impacting Medicare market and segment performance.
  • Translate complex medical cost dynamics into clear recommendations and decision-relevant insights.
  • Proactively frame cost management and trend mitigation opportunities using rigorous analytics.
  • Integrate insights across medical economics domains into cohesive narratives for leadership planning.
  • Support the development and evaluation of market-specific trend and cost assumptions.
  • Provide consultative support by shaping interpretation and application of analytic results.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) credentials required.
  • 7+ years of relevant actuarial or medical economics experience, with exposure to Medicare Advantage.
  • Expert-level proficiency in SQL and advanced Excel or comparable analytic tools.
  • Strong critical thinking, independent judgment, and consultative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a contractor capacity, owning deliverables and collaborating with stakeholders.
  • Fellowship (FSA) or equivalent advanced actuarial designation preferred.
