Job Description

Overview

  • Evaluate and treat patients under physician orders, utilizing therapeutic procedures and assistive devices to maximize functional potential.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to patient needs, ensuring measurable and functional goals are established.
  • Document patient progress and treatment outcomes in compliance with hospital and regulatory guidelines.
  • Supervise and train rehabilitation technicians to ensure effective patient care delivery.
  • Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals regarding treatment plans and progress.
  • Provide clinical supervision to occupational therapy students and participate in departmental quality improvement processes.
  • Maintain compliance with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and accreditation guidelines.
  • Access continuing education opportunities to enhance professional knowledge and skills.
  • Participate in hospital committee meetings and contribute to clinical performance evaluations.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct thorough functional assessments of patients, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Design and implement therapy plans, incorporating patient and family input to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Perform therapy treatments as prescribed, ensuring timely and effective care delivery.
  • Document patient progress, treatment plans, and discharge summaries accurately and comprehensively.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on home programs and discharge plans for continued rehabilitation.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to address patient needs and coordinate care.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in department meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide input on clinical issues and supervise rehabilitation technicians effectively.

Job Requirements

  • Master of Science in Occupational Therapy and current CA Occupational Therapist License required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience, with 2 years preferred in occupational therapy.
  • Ability to assess patient needs and develop comprehensive care plans effectively.
  • Knowledge of Medicare documentation standards and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Recommended affiliation with the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Physical ability to perform therapeutic tasks and manage patient care activities.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
