Job Description

Overview

  • Design and layout mechanical systems adhering to industry codes and standards with minimal supervision.
  • Apply practical knowledge to resolve project-specific challenges and conflicts effectively.
  • Make independent decisions on engineering tasks for assigned projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to discuss scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Supervise and mentor subordinate personnel, ensuring project goals are met.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews to maintain high standards of design and execution.
  • Engage in client communication to align project requirements and expectations.
  • Participate in industry conventions and continuing education opportunities.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct engineering calculations and prepare construction documents for mechanical systems.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards.
  • Estimate man-hours and prepare design budgets and schedules.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure functional and coordinated designs.
  • Provide leadership to design teams and supervise their efforts.
  • Perform final reviews of engineering drawings and documents.
  • Mentor engineering designers, fostering professional growth and integrity.
  • Support permitting processes and jurisdictional requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • Proficiency in REVIT and engineering modeling tools.
  • Strong knowledge of discipline-specific and building codes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in equipment selection and time management.
  • Ability to motivate and direct team members effectively.
