Overview

  • Join a leading general contractor as an Estimator, contributing to preconstruction efforts and delivering accurate cost estimates for diverse commercial projects.
  • Collaborate with leadership, project managers, and clients to ensure competitive and precise estimates aligning with project requirements.
  • Analyze project documentation, including drawings and specifications, to prepare comprehensive time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Engage with subcontractors and suppliers, soliciting and evaluating bids to ensure complete coverage and quality.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations to support project planning and execution.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and implement cost-saving strategies to enhance project efficiency.
  • Maintain and update cost databases and historical pricing information to support accurate estimating processes.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented culture within a stable and respected organization.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare detailed conceptual and hard bid estimates for commercial construction projects, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and documentation to develop comprehensive time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids, ensuring complete bid coverage and quality.
  • Develop scopes of work and collaborate with preconstruction and operations teams for seamless project handoff.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations to support project planning and execution.
  • Identify and implement value engineering opportunities and cost-saving strategies to enhance project efficiency.
  • Maintain and update cost databases and historical pricing information to support accurate estimating processes.
  • Manage multiple bids simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a relevant field, such as Construction Management or Engineering.
  • 3–10+ years of estimating experience within commercial construction projects, including healthcare, education, and industrial facilities.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and systems, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple bids in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience participating in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations to support project planning.
  • Ability to identify value engineering opportunities and implement cost-saving strategies effectively.
