Overview
- Provide comprehensive nursing care and case management for individuals with developmental disabilities in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Supervise and train healthcare staff, ensuring adherence to nursing standards and organizational policies.
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans, updating them annually or as needed.
- Coordinate acute and ongoing health services, ensuring timely communication with clinical personnel.
- Perform regular nursing assessments and maintain accurate medical record documentation.
- Provide training to staff on health and hygiene, communicable disease control, and client-specific medical issues.
- Participate actively in interdisciplinary team meetings and electronic health record management.
- Ensure compliance with OPWDD regulations and organizational policies.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide direct nursing care as prescribed by healthcare providers, adhering to recognized standards and regulations.
- Conduct physical examinations and develop individualized nursing care plans for program participants.
- Monitor health status, laboratory results, and treatment efficacy, ensuring timely communication of findings.
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of LPNs and direct support professionals.
- Provide initial and ongoing training to staff on nursing tasks and preventive health measures.
- Ensure accurate documentation of medical records and training curriculums.
- Coordinate health services and participate in interdisciplinary team discussions.
- Maintain on-call availability for emergency situations and support.
Job Requirements
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Nursing or related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in nursing, preferably with OPWDD or MRDD populations.
- Proficiency in electronic health record management and care coordination systems.
- Strong knowledge of OPWDD regulations and nursing standards.
- Excellent supervisory and training skills for healthcare staff.
- Flexibility in work hours and availability for on-call support.
