Overview
- Manage financial performance of property portfolios, ensuring compliance with GAAP and ownership reporting standards.
- Coordinate with third-party property management firms to validate financial statements and reporting packages.
- Oversee accounts payable processes within Yardi Voyager, ensuring accuracy and adherence to internal controls.
- Perform variance analysis and provide insights to asset management and leadership teams.
- Support annual property budgets, forecasting, and tracking performance against projections.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and accounting standards during audits.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to improve processes and implement automation solutions.
- Monitor cash balances, coordinate funding requests, and oversee intercompany transactions.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Review and analyze monthly financial statements from third-party property managers for accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinate monthly close timelines and deliverables with external property management teams.
- Process vendor payments, including checks, ACH, and wires, ensuring timely disbursement.
- Validate rent rolls, occupancy reports, and supporting schedules for accuracy.
- Assist in preparing financial reporting packages for investors and lenders.
- Support external audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests.
- Track actual performance against budgets and analyze variances effectively.
- Maintain vendor records and support annual 1099 reporting requirements.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- 3–6+ years of property accounting experience, preferably in real estate investment firms.
- Proficiency in Yardi Voyager for accounts payable and financial management.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and property-level accounting principles.
- Experience reviewing financial statements and identifying discrepancies effectively.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and variance analysis.
- Familiarity with fund accounting and ownership structures is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
