Job Description

Overview

  • Provide specialized physical therapy services to students aged 6-20 with autism or developmental disabilities.
  • Evaluate students and develop individualized therapy plans tailored to their needs and classroom routines.
  • Utilize strategies like exercises, manual therapy, and assistive devices to enhance physical function and participation.
  • Collaborate with caregivers and staff to ensure alignment of therapy plans across environments.
  • Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress reports, and other required data accurately.
  • Work on-site in a structured environment with flexible hours Monday through Friday.
  • Opportunity to transition from temporary to permanent employment based on performance.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Assess students using standardized tests, clinical observations, and medical/educational records.
  • Develop and implement therapy programs addressing musculoskeletal and neuromuscular impairments.
  • Provide consultation and training to staff for therapeutic strategy implementation.
  • Collaborate with caregivers to ensure therapy consistency across home and school settings.
  • Recommend adaptive equipment and assistive technology to support student needs.
  • Maintain clinical and administrative records in compliance with program requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support student development and participation.

Job Requirements

  • Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 1 year of pediatric experience with autism or developmental disabilities.
  • Proficiency in developing therapy plans and documenting progress reports.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with caregivers and educational staff.
  • Experience recommending and supporting adaptive equipment and assistive technology.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records and compliance.
  • Flexibility to work on-site and adapt to student census needs.
