Job Description

Overview

  • Lead daily operations of a multi-specialty surgical department, ensuring clinical excellence and efficient workflow in the Operating Room.
  • Provide leadership and accountability for staff coordination, patient care standards, and department performance management.
  • Collaborate with charge nurses and team leads to maintain high standards of care and operational efficiency.
  • Step into leadership roles during urgent staffing situations, ensuring seamless department functionality.
  • Work within a facility equipped with advanced surgical technology, including Xi and SP Robots and a Hybrid OR.
  • Oversee a surgical department handling diverse specialties such as gynecology, urology, orthopedics, and vascular surgery.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards, fostering a safe and effective surgical environment.
  • Contribute to the strategic development and operational success of the surgical department.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage daily operations of the Operating Room, ensuring optimal case flow and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with surgical staff to maintain high standards of patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Support charge nurses and team leads in addressing staffing and workflow challenges.
  • Monitor department performance metrics and implement improvement strategies as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards within the surgical department.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance surgical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
  • Participate in strategic planning and development initiatives for the surgical department.
  • Provide leadership during urgent staffing situations, ensuring seamless department functionality.

Job Requirements

  • Active RN license (IL or eligible for licensure; prior RN licensure required).
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in hospital or ambulatory surgery settings.
  • At least 2 years of Operating Room experience, including circulating experience.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or equivalent educational background.
  • BLS certification required; CNOR certification preferred for enhanced qualifications.
  • Proficiency in managing surgical technology, including Xi and SP Robots.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills to oversee multi-specialty surgical operations.
